The best selection of materials to answer the question: What is profitable to rent? However, according to tradition, let's start with quite logical rental business ideas. For example, is it possible to rent

Passive income is profit that interests many people in different countries. And therefore, more and more often they think about an important question for them: what can be rented out? After all, this way of making a profit is the most interesting and profitable solution. It allows you to earn money without having an official job. But the question is different - what kind of properties can be rented out? This will be discussed further.

In fact, almost all of a person's property can be rented. But in reality, the most profitable business is renting out real estate. What objects and how can you convert them into passive income? If you prepare correctly, a person will be able to bring the idea to life without any problems.

Who is eligible?

Don't know what you can rent out yet? Before thinking about this issue, you need to figure out who, in principle, has such a right. Not everyone has the opportunity to earn passive income in this way. The fact is that the rental of real estate or property is carried out by:

  • Owners of certain objects.
  • State (if we are talking about municipal property).
  • Intermediaries (realtors, real estate agencies).

It turns out that only the owner of a particular property, as well as authorized representatives, have the right to rent out certain objects. Quite an obvious fact. But what is it possible to earn passive income from?

Apartment

You can rent out an apartment in the most common scenario. It quite often helps people in different countries make a profit to one degree or another. The procedure for concluding a rental agreement is usually carried out with the participation of real estate agencies. Or personally by the owner of the apartment. It can be either an individual or a state. It is best to rent out the apartment officially. Yes, then you will have to give 13% of your profits to the country. But at the same time, the landlord and tenant will have rights and responsibilities. Performing such an operation is not as difficult as it seems.

Registration of apartment rental

Is it possible to rent out an apartment? Yes. This, as already mentioned, is the most common scenario in different countries. Rented housing is unique. Drawing up a rental agreement for an apartment is not so difficult. It has already been mentioned that a person can bring an idea to life either by contacting real estate agencies, or independently. But for the latter situation you will have to pay a visit to the notary. This is the only way a lease agreement can be drawn up. What documents may be required? Among them, the following papers are distinguished (regardless of the method of renting out the apartment):

  1. Documents on ownership of real estate.
  2. Lease/lease agreement with detailed terms and conditions.
  3. Extract from the Housing Office from the personal account.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that there are two types of agreement: lease and rental. The second option is suitable for cases when the apartment is rented to an individual. No mandatory registration required. But a direct lease agreement is subject to registration if it is concluded for more than 12 months. Signed when concluding an agreement with legal entities.

Room

What can you rent? The next scenario is to rent out part of the apartment. Or rather, rooms. A common way to make a small profit. The procedure for drawing up the relevant agreement is similar to the previously defined algorithm of actions. You just need to specify in the agreement which room is being rented out.

If there are several owners in the apartment, in addition to the previously listed list of papers, you will have to report the consent of all people to carry out the transaction. But when there is only one owner of the apartment, then renting out a room is not such a big problem. The profit from such a source of passive income is less than from renting out an apartment. But it does happen.

Earth

Is it possible to rent out a plot of land? Or part of it, for example? This question also often worries owners. For example, a house has been built, and there is a small plot nearby. Is it possible to submit it? Yes. There are no special restrictions on this matter. It is recommended to immediately decide whether the entire plot is planned to be rented out or only part of it. The complexity of concluding an agreement, as well as the text of the agreement, will depend on this. For legal entities, this feature is extremely important.

If a person does not act through realtors or relevant agencies, then he will have to sign the agreement with a notary. Otherwise, the transaction may be declared invalid. And this is important to understand. Special problems may arise if the land plot has several owners. However, a similar picture arises when renting out any property. Additionally, you will have to obtain the consent of the remaining owners to carry out the transaction. Without these documents, the lease or rental agreement will be invalid.

Not housing

You can rent out premises that are not residential. For example, a basement, storage room, utility room. This is a less common scenario, especially among those who live in apartment buildings. But this is only if the lessor is an individual. Among other things, non-residential premises such as offices are rented out. Just such situations occur in everyday life all the time. Please note that for any of the transactions under consideration, citizens will have to pay income tax. Currently it is 13%. This is a mandatory item for every taxpayer.

It is now clear that non-residential premises can be rented out. It's not as difficult as it seems. The algorithm of actions for the owner of the property will be exactly the same as in all other cases. It is enough to collect a similar package of documents. Only the certificate of ownership of a particular property changes. Then the lease/lease agreement should be concluded in the prescribed manner. We will talk about all the features of this process, regardless of the property being rented out.

House/dacha

Is it possible to rent out the plot? Yes, especially if there is only one owner of the property. But what other objects can a citizen consider? For example, at home or cottage. They can also be rented out if desired. In practice this is quite difficult to do. And individuals rarely deal with such cases. Typically, houses and dachas are rented out along with land plots by the city administration. But ordinary property owners also have the right to this.

Is it possible to rent out a plot of land, but not rent out the house located on it? Yes, this is also possible. But only in the case when the agreement specifies a specific territory to be surrendered. If there is space on the plot exclusively for a house, then the agreement will have to indicate exactly the building.

Car

More and more often, citizens are thinking about whether it is possible. And the answer will please them - yes, there is such a possibility. The list of documents will change. As a rule, you will have to seriously think about the lease agreement - it sets the payment rate. Most often he is hourly. The following documents will be required from the owner and tenant:

  • Papers indicating ownership of the vehicle.
  • Insurance.
  • Lease contract.
  • Technical passport of the car.
  • Identity documents of the parties.

Usually this is enough. It is advisable to think through all the features and nuances of renting a car in advance. To do this as competently as possible, invite lawyers. They contribute to the correct composition. This will make it possible to bring the idea to life without any problems.

Other

What can you rent? In fact, as already mentioned, almost all properties can be rented. Accordingly, rent, for example. If you do not take into account real estate objects, then you can identify many more ideas regarding the question posed. Among the most common objects rented out are: clothing (mainly suits and dresses), garages, boats, bicycles, sports equipment, dishes, furniture, appliances, construction equipment, books, pets (for example, for promotions).

This is not all that can be rented out. The list goes on and on. In the modern world, it is limited mainly by the imagination of the owner. And this must be taken into account. Only after receiving money from the tenants can the owner of the rental property have problems.

Underwater rocks

We are talking about taxes. It has already been said that from each transaction you will need to pay 13% of the profit. It would seem that this is where the problems end. However, not everything is as simple as it seems. The fact is that in Russia there is such a thing as systematic profit-making from the same activities. True, for criminal liability to arise, the income must total 1,500,000 rubles. Therefore, until this moment, you can rent out this or that property without any problems.

What's next? Much depends on the type of rental property. To pay taxes and sleep peacefully, some recommend opening an individual entrepreneur. And choose the simplified tax system. Then you will have to pay 6% of the profit as taxes per year. Legal and safe. In some cases, it is recommended to purchase a patent for this type of activity. In Russia, at the moment, all citizens who rent out housing or property are offered to work on How to proceed? This is decided by the citizen himself. But in any case, you need to pay tax. Especially when it comes to leasing offices, as well as working with legal entities.

What can be rented other than real estate?

Beach equipment (in resort towns this business is in great demand. After all, not everyone is ready to carry a swimming mattress or children’s circles back and forth); equipment (camera, video camera...); gardening tools (not everyone will buy a lawn mower, but it’s convenient to use from time to time); a trading tent (like all commercial equipment from hangers to display cases) or a tourist tent (like, in principle, all tourist equipment. It’s expensive to buy, and you don’t go on trips often); speedboat or boat (for romantic walks for couples); sporting goods: skates, skis, balls; husband/wife (not in the format of prostitution, but it happens that someone urgently needs to act out a performance in order to provoke emotions, and here your other half can play along in the performance; pets (for filming in films, advertising, exotic animals are often rented out, for example , photographers); furniture (maybe you have an extra table lying around, but someone urgently needs it, for example for a first-grader); strollers, bicycles, scooters, swings (everything related to children’s active and non-active games); dishes (for example, super-duper service); paintings (both your own and others'); any construction equipment (suddenly you have a crane, the construction company will be very grateful); places for advertising (from notice walls at the institute or banners on websites to billboards) ; their own knowledge on any topic (by conducting paid seminars); books (many do not want to buy, but read with pleasure)

You can rent out everything (well, except your soul, probably), the main thing is to find someone to rent it out to.

Yes, anything - clothes, strollers, cars, pots, spoons, tables, telephones, gardening tools, etc.

From my own practice, I rented furniture and a safe separately for the office. I rent out a fax machine to one client. Neighbors rent out their dacha for the whole summer. A friend rents a dental chair in the appropriate clinic. The situation there is this: all the proceeds go to you, but for the opportunity to work in someone else’s clinic on someone else’s equipment you need to pay 90 thousand rubles per month.

We (Smart Telephony company) rent out the services of an expensive and powerful corporate-class PBX. The service is called Virtual Office. Many enterprises (for example, start-ups) do not have sufficient financial resources for acquisition and subsequent maintenance corporate mini-PBX. And by taking advantage of our offer, for a small monthly subscription fee you have good call center. And it doesn’t matter that it is not owned, but rented, because no one except you and me knows about this, right?

Equipment, cars, commercial and consumer equipment, a safe deposit box in a bank, a vegetable garden, a field, a bathhouse. This is perhaps the most profitable thing I know.

As far as I remember, back in the 80s they used to rent out a lot of things, and we didn’t even mind using these services ourselves. We rented a piano, and they also provided refrigerators, washing machines, even vacuum cleaners. There’s probably no such thing now, but I think if there was, there would be a demand for it.

    1 cars

2 different devices for example: metal detector

    3 sports equipment

    4 boats, yachts

Hello! There are many options and now I will tell you them.

    Third option: Xbox 360, 720.

    Fourth option: iPad 1, 2, 3.

    Fifth option: iPhone 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

    Sixth option: mobile phones.

    Seventh option: tablets.

    Eighth option: slippers.

    Ninth option: robes.

    Tenth option: laptops.

A summer cottage plot for the summer season, an apartment (with or without furniture), a room and even a balcony (especially in summer in resort towns).

You can rent out non-residential premises for an office (with tables, chairs, air conditioners, etc.), shelving for a store.

Transport - tractors and tow trucks - for construction organizations.

A car in a taxi service. For example, in our city you can rent out your car to a taxi service for 800 rubles/day.

Clothes - your own or children's.

You can even rent out your body! For example, how surrogate mothers do it.

The funniest moment in my life regarding rent was when I read something like this in the newspaper:

I am renting a dog. Nickname Yuzya. 5 years old. He is a good watchman, kind, faithful, devoted. For a period of time: 3 weeks. And a number was given.

At first I thought it was someone’s joke. But I decided to call and find out, and it turned out that it was true.

Well, you can probably rent out a lot of things :).

your body (prostitution). They also rent out a pump for pumping up the car. You can rent out a car, a warehouse, land, a garden, gas generators, airplanes, helicopters, etc.

Wedding paraphernalia (dresses, jewelry, suits, cars, fur coats) are in great demand; everything is expensive to purchase, and why do you need it in the future? Now it’s summer, many people spend time by the river, you can rent out barbecues, fishing rods and everything else for relaxation. And knowledge is also in high demand.

A friend of mine is engaged in construction work, he has an emergency, he often rents out his workers to other sites when they offer good money. And the workers earn extra money, and they don’t forget about themselves, in the end everyone is happy.

In our water park we will rent slippers, hats, swimming trunks and swimsuits, since it turned out that some companies make a very spontaneous decision in visiting our establishment, funny but true. There is a river next to us, so the business accompanying our general location is the rental of boats with various fillings, such as a boat with sleeping bags, a boat with fishing equipment and a boat with a barbecue and disposable dishes, although the neighbors complain that the contents constantly need to be updated or washed, since people are having a blast, even the deposit price does not help, but romantics want everything, especially in the competitive state that is inherent in couples in companies, so to speak, who will outdo whom. Obviously, you can rent out everything in this life, tents, tables, chairs and dishes for weddings and anniversary celebrations, people who will serve these events, uniforms for waiters, participants in sports competitions, posters with inscriptions for processions and parades, flags and attributes for processions based on interests, in general the market is very vast, the main thing is the goal and imagination, which will be in demand by humanity.

You can rent out any property: both your own and rented from others (with the consent of the lessor).

It’s easy to rent out a car (I’ll tell you it’s a very profitable business), a garage, a boat, a motor boat or a regular boat, if you have one. You can also rent a mountain bike, climbing equipment, various ropes for steeplejacking, and tents for camping. Yes, in principle, there is a lot more if you want. I rent out my cat when the neighbor's cats and their owners need offspring. I also rented out a wedding dress.

Renting household goods is a fairly convenient and undeservedly forgotten service. But today you can rent almost any thing. IP correspondent Natalya Naiman found out how to properly build your relationships with rental companies so as not to overpay.

In Soviet times, when Russians had to wait years for the opportunity to buy a TV or refrigerator, rental points for household goods were very popular. There were over 1,500 such institutions in the capital, where things needed in the household could be borrowed for a time at an affordable price. Moreover, they were all state-owned.

From someone else's shoulder
Clothes rental is in great demand. Moreover, you can borrow both a fancy dress costume and an evening dress for a social event.
Before the New Year, costumes of Father Frost and Snow Maiden are sold out at rental stores - from 700 rubles. per day. In addition, carnival costumes of Count Dracula (from 250 rubles per day), Harry Potter (150 rubles), and Spider-Man (600 rubles) are in demand.
We often rent wedding dresses, evening dresses, prom dresses, tuxedos and tailcoats for social events.
True, you won’t be able to rent an expensive outfit for a long time. For example, the Ivanna salon lends a wedding or evening dress to a client only for three to four days, the Madonna salon - for a week. In the latter salon you will have to pay at least 50% of the cost of the outfit (and they cost from $1000). The client will leave the full cost of the dress as a deposit - then the cost of all minor damage to which the dress will be subjected during the riotous wedding celebrations will be deducted from it. If you decide to rent a wedding or evening dress at the Ivanna salon, you will have to leave the rental company 5,000 rubles. regardless of the cost of the outfit. Before returning clothing to rental, it must be dry cleaned. If the salon has complaints about the condition of the dress (torn hem, stains that cannot be removed), the deposit is usually not returned to clients.

Now there are no more than a hundred rental points in the capital, and all of them are commercial. Such a small number is apparently explained by the fact that a lot of household appliances are sold today and the incomes of Muscovites allow them to be purchased.

However, sometimes renting an item for a while is more profitable than going to the store for a new one. For example, if you only need a video camera to film your week-long stay in the Maldives. A hammer drill is needed to hang bookshelves in an apartment. In the end, you can “roll” the scales for your pregnant wife, because they will no longer be needed after nine months. At current household appliance rental points, there is a small but constant influx of customers: rental companies claim that five to seven people contact them every day.

To choose a rental that is suitable for you, it is better to call several at once. The rules by which rental offices operate today can vary greatly.

The thing is that the standard agreement provided for by the old Civil Code on the provision of household items for temporary use to citizens, which regulated the work of household rentals, became invalid about ten years ago. The new Civil Code does not contain requirements for the operation of household rentals: it defines only the basic rules of the game, for example, the obligation of the rental company to check the serviceability of the rented item in the presence of the client. All other rental points set themselves: tariffs, fines, the need to pay a deposit, etc. In order to rent things out to the public, the rental point does not even need to obtain a license. The only document that certifies that the rental company provides its services legally is a registration certificate issued by the Registration Chamber of the Russian Federation.

For rent with a deposit and registration

Now you can borrow anything for a while - household appliances, a laptop, an evening dress, skis. “The number one product that can be found in every rental store,” said Olga Bodrova, manager of the Prokat.ru company, “is a scale for newborns.” Renting a scale for a month costs 550-700 rubles.

Another type of goods that are often rented are working tools: drills, hammer drills, grinders and cutting machines. A day's rental of a Makita drill or hammer drill will cost from 90 to 150 rubles.

Other products are in demand depending on the season. For example, in the spring, Muscovites dismantle sports equipment in order to lose weight for the beach season; before the New Year, they rent fancy dress costumes and masks. On weekends, skis, tents, barbecue grills and other tourist equipment usually disappear from rentals.

You can even rent a piano, although such a bulky item cannot be rented for a week or two. At the rental office of the State Unitary Enterprise "Royal" (the name remains from former times), where you can rent the domestic instrument "Lyric" or "Nocturne", you will be asked to pay for six months at once - on average it will cost 1,600 rubles. The client will have to pay for the delivery of the instrument home and back.

You should take care of finding rentals and booking items that are in seasonal demand in advance.

It’s easy to find rental points for household goods: as a rule, their addresses are posted on the Internet. You can also find out the address and phone number of the location closest to you from the paid MGTS help desk by calling 009. Before making your final choice, it doesn’t hurt to call several rental companies: each one will have different models of TVs, cameras or laptops. Accordingly, the capabilities of the rented equipment, the cost of rental per day, and the amount of deposits for each rental are also different.

As a rule, you can find both new, expensive equipment and cheap, used equipment at rental stores. The rental cost, of course, depends on the quality and price of the item being rented. Another point that a rental client should pay attention to is whether the company takes a deposit for its property. The Civil Code does not say anything about a deposit, so whether to take it or not, and if you take it, then in what amount, is decided by the management of the rental point. Usually the client has to leave the full estimated value of government property.

Moreover, the assessment of the item lies entirely on the conscience of the distributors. The cost of expensive items at rental stores is inflated so as not to be left in the red if the client does not return what he borrowed. On the contrary, things that have served their useful life and recovered their cost can be priced lower in order to attract customers. For example, clients of rental companies who rent laptops usually have to pay a lot of money: the deposit for the cheapest equipment (Toshiba) in the Aberon showroom will be $400.

In some companies, for example in Prokata.ru, only happy owners of Moscow registration can borrow things without paying a deposit for them. For Moscow housewives who want to make their home beautiful for the next holiday, such a “trifle” will not seem superfluous. Renting a professional washing vacuum cleaner, for example, costs 200 rubles. per day. Clients who do not have Moscow registration will have to pay a deposit in the amount of the full cost of the vacuum cleaner - 18 thousand rubles. However, this does not apply to cameras and computers - the vigilant rental companies of this company do not want to risk complex equipment and demand that the full cost of the rented item be left with them, regardless of the tenant’s registration.

The deal is more valuable then money

To rent something, the client just needs to show his passport. If you want to rent an expensive item that costs more than several hundred dollars, such as a slide scanner, laptop or fancy video camera, a passport may not be enough. Aberon, a laptop rental company, requires another document proving the client's identity, such as a driver's license or pension certificate. And, for example, State Unitary Enterprise "Royal" will lend you a tool only after you present a certificate from your place of employment, which indicates your position, work address and telephone number. “Delay the payment or the date of return of our property by two or three days, and we will have to pester you at work,” the individual entrepreneur at this office said.

The law does not indicate that only a citizen who has reached the age of 18 can become a rental client. However, not a single rental company will give an expensive item to a minor. So while older schoolchildren can still count on skis or a masquerade mask, they can never rely on a stereo system or a laptop.

According to the Civil Code, rental companies are required to enter into a written agreement with their clients. This document indicates all the client’s passport data, place of work and registration, contact numbers, the cost of the rent that the client pays in advance, the cost of the rented item, the rental period (it cannot be more than a year). The contract even states the exact time by which the borrowed item must be returned: for example, if you rented something before 17.00, you must also return the property to the rental company before 17.00.

If you're a minute late, you'll pay for an extra day. By the way, a day is the minimum period for which you can rent a product: even if you needed something, for example a drill, for half an hour, you will have to pay as if you were drilling holes in the wall day and night.

The client’s right to cancel the rental early is also stipulated in the contract. According to the Civil Code, to do this you need to notify the rental companies in writing 10 days in advance: then you will be refunded the extra money for the rental.

However, it is not necessary to sign the agreement right away. First, the rental company must demonstrate to the client that the item really works and, at the client’s request, check all its functional features. The rental item must be accompanied by instructions and a warranty card; they must be kept by the client throughout the rental period.

If the equipment suddenly stops working during the warranty period, the client will need to take the item back to the rental, and he, in turn, is obliged to return the faulty equipment to a service center. If it turns out that the rental companies themselves are to blame for the breakdown, for example, the item was stored incorrectly, they will have to return the rental money to the client.

The client should meticulously inspect the rental item and insist that all scratches, roughness, broken corners and other minor defects be indicated in the property transfer deed - a document attached to the contract. Next, it’s worth asking: what exactly is the system of fines in this rental? This is not an empty precaution. Almost every rental company has its own instructions on the procedure for calculating penalties, which indicate the fines that the rental company will require for this or that damage. By signing a rental agreement, you automatically agree to all its terms, including fines. If you haven't looked up the cost of scratching your camera or karaoke machine in advance, the bill your rental company will give you may surprise you.

Moreover, the rental company will not return the deposit that you paid for the rented item until you pay all the fines.

"Play" before the trial

It’s not worth keeping an item for a long time, for example, because you’re very busy. There is usually no such thing as a “fine for late return” at rental stores: the client will simply have to pay for each day of delay, as for the day of rental. A “forgetful” client may face a different punishment. “The contract,” says Mikhail Emelyanov, an employee of the legal company Legas, “usually establishes how many days the client can with impunity (this does not mean free) not return the item to the rental company. After this period, the rental company has the right to sue the client.” If, according to the terms of the rental, the client has paid a deposit for the rented property, you should not expect reminders or calls from the rental companies. By a court decision and on completely legal grounds, the rental company will simply keep your money, and the “forgetful” client will become the happy owner of a masquerade mask or other government property. However, if the secured deposit did not cover the rental losses, the missing amount may be recovered from the client.

But if you haven’t paid a deposit, the rental companies will make a lot of efforts to find you: passport data and certificates from your place of work are not an empty formality.

If the matter comes to trial, the client will have to return the “lost” item to the rental company or reimburse its cost, as well as pay for each day of rental of the property: the amount can add up to a considerable amount. However, as Prokata.ru manager Olga Bodrova assures, in such cases, tormented by reminders, the regularity of which the MGTS service would envy, clients prefer to confess and pay off the rental companies before the trial.

“It is more difficult to collect a fine from the client for the damage with which he returned the rented item,” says lawyer Mikhail Emelyanov. “You can have your own opinion as to the extent of these damages and, accordingly, what amount should be reimbursed to the rental company.” In such cases, the client and rental companies usually resort to the help of an “arbiter”, which is a warranty workshop or service center.

There they finally determine what damage the client caused to the rental property and how much he will have to pay for it. By the way, in this case the examination will have to be paid for by the client himself. Rentals do not take into account natural wear and tear, to which all things are subject. As the IP manager of Makita stated, the drill or hammer drill that the client received must be returned in exactly the same form - these are the terms of the contract. If you took a musical instrument from the State Unitary Enterprise "Royal", placed it in your home and never approached it again, and there were moths in the instrument, you will be charged for this - they say, you had to hang up bags of pepper.

The agreement that Prokat.ru concludes with clients states that the rented product must be returned in the same condition in which you received it. For example, if the surface of the TV became dusty while it was in your apartment, you will have to wipe it down or pay a fine for returning it “not in the same condition as you received it.” “It is almost impossible to prove that an item is subject to natural wear and tear, and that the equipment is worn out and dusty through no fault of the client,” assures Mikhail Emelyanov, an employee of the Legas law firm.” The Civil Code talks about “natural changes” with which the client can return the rented property. However, the law does not provide guidance on how to determine whether a particular abrasion is natural. Therefore, the client will always be to blame.

Final rental payment

“Before renting,” says Olga Bodrova, manager of the Prokat.ru company, “the client should figure out whether renting is really more profitable for him than buying a similar item.” For example, renting an A60 digital camera from Prokata.ru for more than a month is extremely unprofitable. The estimated value, the equivalent of which will have to be left as collateral, is 4 thousand rubles. Such devices have not been produced for a long time, so it is impossible to find a new one on sale, but a used one can easily be bought for $40-60. A day's rental will cost the client 150 rubles, a week - 700 rubles, and a month - 1,500 rubles. (about $60, which is the price of the device). Even the most careful person will not be able to avoid causing a single minor damage to the camera or a single scratch. Accordingly, the rental company will definitely require some amount for repair of your technology. If a client takes a camera for two months, he will have to pay a minimum of 3 thousand rubles, a maximum of 3 thousand rubles. plus a fine.

Renting scales for newborns is not at all profitable. Usually they are needed until the child is six months old, then he can not be weighed at all or weighed once a month. The estimated cost of the scales is 2800 rubles. You can buy these scales for about the same price (maximum 200-300 rubles more). To rent them for a month, the client will have to pay 550 rubles. The fee for six months, accordingly, will be 3,300 rubles. It will be more profitable to buy them and then sell them or give them to another happy family.

In the last issue, among other things, we talked about the unusual idea of a Swiss farmer to rent out cows to tourists - in this issue you will find out what else you can rent out profitably, and, believe me, some ideas will simply stun you.

However, according to tradition, let's start with quite logical rental business ideas. For example, renting textbooks.

The idea to create such a business came to Rodz after finishing his first year, when he managed to sell his textbooks, which cost 560 dollars for only 18. Then Rodz decided to come up with an alternative to buying expensive textbooks that were needed only for one course of study.

On his website, MyBookBorrow.com, students can submit a request for any textbook and, if they are satisfied with the rental price, then rent it for a year.

But not only students and schoolchildren quickly “grow out” of their textbooks. It turns out that educational games for kids can also be rented.

Two former teachers organized a rental service for children's educational video games, SmartyRents. Their database contains a huge number of games for children (starting from 9 months of age), which parents can order online and receive in an envelope by mail (after the rental period expires, they are also obliged to return these games by mail).

But the next idea for a rental business is more of a PR move than a full-fledged business, which, however, does not detract from the originality of the solution. The manufacturer of professional guitars, in order to increase sales of its far from cheap instruments, invited potential buyers to test guitars before purchasing. Of course, not for free.

Now any client can rent a guitar for up to 1 week by first paying a membership fee ($50), and then the rental price itself ($75 per day or 300 per week). Moreover, they rent out not only guitars, but also accessories for them (headphones, belts, cables, cases, etc.).

But, of course, the most variations on the theme of rental are associated with clothing rental. It turns out that it is profitable to specialize not only in the rental of wedding dresses and fancy dress costumes, but also in designer clothing. As does the New York company Rent the Runway, which has the latest collections of leading fashion designers.

The technology of work is simple - customers select a suitable dress from the assortment presented on the website, place an order, pay the rental cost, which is approximately 10% of the cost of the dress (ranging from 50 to 200 dollars), and receive their dress in a special case by postal service.

At the end of the rental period, which ranges from 4 to 8 days, the client returns the dress again through New York postal services.

The Transitional Sizes company followed the same path, although their services are aimed at women who are losing weight, which means they are not ready to buy new clothes until they lose weight completely (at least they naively believe this).

Be that as it may, the company earns good money from this pseudo-rationality of women who are passionate about diets, offering ladies to rent clothes of the required size for up to one month, paying for it only from 3 to 25 dollars, and at the end of the period return them in clean form and in good condition .

But this is not all the options related to clothing rental. Until recently, the niche of pregnant women who wanted to look fashionable even in an “interesting” position remained unreached.

American housewife Marcelle Costello, having first-hand experience with this problem, without hesitation, organized her own company, Rentmaternitywear, to rent dresses for pregnant women.

At the same time, Mrs. Costello not only rents out dresses, but also sews them herself, which increases her profit by an order of magnitude.

The cost of renting maternity dresses varies from $35 to $70 depending on the duration and quality of the dress. It costs $35 to rent a dress for a week, $50 for two weeks, $60 to rent a new dress for a month.

The selected dress is delivered to your home by a certain date via FedEx courier service.

At the end of the rental period, the dress is returned to the Rentmaternitywear store, without preliminary washing, cleaning, etc.

Well, now it’s time to talk about ideas whose rationality is less obvious.

So in the Japanese city of Yakohama, a Candy pet store opened, which can be rented. Buyers are allowed to rent a pet on a short-term basis before they decide to buy. First of all, we are talking about dogs of all colors and sizes.

The trick of this business idea is that buyers, having once taken a cute, funny puppy home, are unlikely to want to give it back.

But if the owners of a Japanese rental store expect to find a permanent family for their pets in this way, then the FLEXPETS company specializes in rental, training dogs in such a way that owners and tenants can be confident in their good behavior and obedience. We offer dogs of all sizes, shapes, colors and personalities.

In addition, the dog is brought to you with its food and favorite toy so that the animal does not feel discomfort. The dog is required to be equipped with a collar with a GPS sensor and a temperature sensor in order to provide it with comfortable living conditions (temperature conditions, safety). Entrepreneurs apparently don’t care about the stress animals experience when they have become attached to their temporary owners.

And in conclusion - the apotheosis of the absurd.

An entrepreneur from China, Xu Lisha, opened an agency for renting... bridesmaids.

The idea of organizing such a strange rental, to put it mildly, came to Xu after she herself was offered to become a bridesmaid for a fee. Seeing potential and a promising niche for business in this idea, she decided to take a risk and make this type of business her main source of income.

The Chinese entrepreneur is looking for her performers for the role of bridesmaids among university students.

Basic requirements: beautiful face, good figure, well-groomed appearance, stylish hairstyle and good manners.

But the Japanese have established a business for renting entire... families.

The company Hagemashi Tai offers to “remote” a variety of relatives from distant to the closest – spouses and parents. Distant relatives are played by actors for a reasonable fee. Most often, their role is to attend funerals, weddings, and for an additional fee they will also give a congratulatory or condolence speech. By the way, you can also rent your spouse for a while. Moreover, husband rental services are offered in two options - the first husband rental for a single mother with children in order to do some housework, and the second option - trial marriage - for brides who want to experience the feelings and sensations of wedding and marriage before real marriage.

As you can see, the imagination of entrepreneurs is truly limitless. And the most amazing thing is that even ideas that seem crazy at first glance find their buyers.

Therefore, if traditional types of business do not inspire you, then come up with your own idea - as all the entrepreneurs from our reviews did in their time.

And to spur your imagination, take advantage of the author’s development of our portal universal designer of business ideas “Tarot 1000” ideas." With this set, you will create more ideas in a month than your competitors will come up with in a year.

“You don’t need a thing, but only its function”

How to Save and Earn Tens of Thousands by Renting and Renting Anything

The world is gripped by consumerism. However, more and more people are coming to the realization that it is not things that are important, but only their functions. Pete Maclaine/ZUMAPRESS.com/Global Look Press

The sharing economy, built on the principles of sharing things, is spreading faster and faster. People started sharing apartments (Airbnb), cars (Uber), and now you can rent anything on the Internet. On the one hand, this helps you save money, because why buy expensive things if you can only buy them for a few hours or days? On the other hand, this is a new opportunity to earn money: if you have any useful item, you can turn it into an asset, renting it to other people and receiving benefits. In this material, prepared with the support of the OneTwoRent portal, we tell you how the service for renting everything in the world works. To do this, we will answer several key questions.

Why rent something if you can buy it?

One of the founders of the international rental website OneTwoRent, Alexey Nikonov, explains that often people do not need the thing itself, but the function that the thing performs. “What we need is not a drill, but a hole in the wall, not a car, but the ability to get to a certain place at a certain time. You can get a function by renting an item rather than buying it,” says Nikonov.

According to the businessman, there is no point in spending your whole life on endless work in order to constantly buy things, because you can refuse unreasonable purchases and fly off on a trip with the saved money and get the most important thing - knowledge and impressions.

Today, the idea of sharing is very popular in the world, based on environmental friendliness, savings and ergonomics. People try to make their consumption of things conscious, so they start using some things together.

What can you rent?

All! On the OneTwoRent website you can rent a car (and even a motorhome), construction tools, a game console, a camera, a printer, clothes, textbooks, a parking space, a bicycle and a catamaran.

OneTwoRent has things you probably never thought about renting. For example, if you wish, you can rent an oar for 50 rubles a day, a cow for 2000 rubles an hour, and for 100 rubles a day you can put a figurine of a happy Chukchi in your office. In the product description, its owner writes: “Chukchi with happy karma. What if someone needs a little fortune? I feel calmer with him. I don’t know how it will be for you...”

How to rent an item you like?

In the catalog of products presented on the website otr24.com, choose the one you like. It is better if you find several similar products at once so that you can choose. There are two ways to contact landlords: call the phone number indicated in the ad or start a chat on the website.

When you have discussed all the details with the owner of the item, you only need to conclude an agreement where all the details will be spelled out, and take the item for yourself.

Is it possible to make money by renting out your belongings?

Businessman Alexey Nikonov is confident that annually you can earn an average of 45 thousand rubles by renting out your expensive items. And if you don’t buy things yourself, but also rent them, you can save another 30 thousand a year.

Earnings could be higher. For example, if you have a game console and a lot of video games, then you can rent them for 10 thousand rubles per month. But you can also rent joysticks, virtual reality glasses and other attributes, which will increase your income.

It is very profitable to rent sports equipment: bicycles, snowboards, skis, skates, as well as tourist equipment: inflatable boats, catamarans, tents. For renting out such things you can get from 200 thousand to 5000 thousand rubles per day.

There's probably a dusty suitcase full of tools in your closet. Rent them out! Jigsaws, drills, hammer drills, screwdrivers, and wire cutters can bring you up to 500 rubles a day.

How is the OneTwoRent portal different from other rental sites?

Firstly, you can already rent and rent out things on OneTwoRent in 44 cities of Russia. The creators of the project have ambitious plans and say that in the near future OneTwoRent will become the only international service in the world that people from all over the world can use. There are similar services in Europe, the USA and Australia, but they are local (so far, in addition to Russia, Kazakhstan is represented on the site). In addition, OneTwoRent brings together a variety of things on one site, from real estate to services, clothing and even construction equipment. Thirdly, OneTwoRent is a turnkey service that provides opportunities to promote your product on the portal, legal advice and a system for verifying counterparties, PR and advertising for the rental company brand and much more, said Alexey Nikonov.
